So my awesome friend Carla (http://superforest.org/) told me about this project. The Save-A-Seed Coalition is spreading the word about the Millennium Seed Bank. The Millennium Seed Bank seeks to develop a global conservation network, capable of safeguarding wild plant species. All life on Earth depends on plants. So saving seeds saves plants that are vital to all ecosystems. It is thought that 60,000 to 100,000 plant species are under threat and the Millennium Seed Bank provides an insurance policy against the extinction of plants in the wild and provides options for their future use. Plants are essential for food, medicine, fuels, building materials and many other products. Saving seeds is important for the conservation and future utilization of many plants. This project is funded through public donations so the next time you feel like doing a good deed, donate to this amazing project. Happy Groundhog Day!!!

It's official... we have 6 more weeks of winter according to this little guy...

I on the other hand am rather excited about watching some great Bill Murray action tonight in celebration of this holiday. Groundhog Day has to be one of the best movies ever made and I know that Natasha has never seen it (she lived in a cave her whole life) so I am going to force her to watch this one.

seriously. critical mass was amazing, and I have spent the entire weekend recounting every single part of it (including the getting lost and going to point loma part) haha.

but BESIDES that, something new has captured my interest. something that came in the mail two seconds ago. my WHOPPER SACRIFICE....also known as the best thing to ever happen...EVAR.

a few weeks ago i wrote about a facebook application made by burger king that allows you to delete ten of your friends to receive a free whopper (of course, the application tells your "friend" you are deleting why you deleted them, which is....horribly amazing/bad-ass). eh-hem....who could resist? I am going to proudly present this to my local burger king tomorrow. oh man, this is going to be so so epic.

OH and i was just informed by our lovely maureen that today is groundhog day. Boy i live in a cave sometimes...Happy G Day affectionate people!!

Natasha and I went and saw a performance artist downtown tonight at Sushi. Performance art is something that I still have a difficult time understanding, but, it was interesting nonetheless.

Another art form I am a huge fan of is street art... This particular piece is soooo cool. The Loch Ness monster is real!!!!!

We Survived...

Yes... we made it last night without any giant falls (although I did have a minor tumble that included me knocking over Nat a little... Sorry Nat!!!). And that was quite the rush. Yes, we got separated from the group fairly early (how you lose 1200 other bicyclists, I'm not quire sure, but we managed to do that just fine). We are determined to do it next month and not get separated. It's an amazing experience with such a great message.

Squids...

Ok... so I found this website a while back that sounds really lame... but I think its fun. You design and build a squid. I know it sounds kinda lame, but you get to save it and go back to check on your squid whenever you like and see what he (or she) has been up to. The other day my squid (Brett) made friends with a killer whale, swam with a blue whale, and just today he was out looking for suckers. Try it... you'll like it.

(i ride my bike)

besides hopelessly relying on public transportation since i've sold my little civic, i've been almost one hundred percent relying on my bike--and its so great.

Sunday morning bike rides are so so nice, especially in this great weather, right? RIGHT. I've pretty much been on my bike running errands all around town today with the boyfriend ever since i woke up....at 10 AM, making me a bik-a-manic-a-holic. woohoo!

oh and the ad above is a sweet vintage Raleigh ad (which my dad ceaselessly is a collector of), anyone else have childhood memories of family bike rides on these old turkeys?

i sold my car recently and now i'm carless, meaning i take the bus for just about two hours everyday to get to school and then back home. but its nice. for all you hippie commuters out there (i'm sure your doing it because you care about the planet, and not about your wallet (: ) sometimes there is just not much there.

MY FIVE FAVORITE Best Things to do on a Bus



1. SLEEP (can anyone argue that this is not the best answer for any free time?)
2. HOMEWORK/PAY.THE.BILLS (so awesome because when you get home you get free timeee)
3. PEOPLE.WATCH (one of my very very very favorite past-times)
4. DRAW.AND.EAVESDROP.ON.OTHER.PEOPLE'S.CONVERSATIONS (horribly fun)
5. LISTEN.TO.ROYKSOPP (somehow the beat of the music always follows the pattern of trees/buildings passing by, which is doubly amazing)

okay, so i originally wanted this to be "ten best things to do on a bus," but...yeah bus rides are just...BORING.

the whopper sacrifice. its bad. for all you kids out there who are avid or not so avid facebook users, this is an application that Burger king made that rewards you for deleting ten of your friends. that's right. and what do you get in return? an AWESOMELY FUH-REE WHOPPER. but that's it.

I'm not going to lie, i totally partook in this...EVERYONE has those random friends on facebook or myspace that they talked to like once at a party, and have never ever seen since. what a way-worth it trade.

Just as a warning, this application for sure burns their profile picture.... and makes you feel slightly bad slash guilty. but whatever. ha!
