Alpaca Love...

A while back, while watching a Project Runway marathon (when is season 6 starting, btw), I saw a commercial for these amazing animals... Alpacas. I had never heard of them, but apparently, for the price of a 1998 Honda Civic, you can be the proud owner of a lovely Alpaca. So of course I sent away for some information on these animals, and although i do not own a ranch for them to roam, I am convinced that one day I will own an alpaca of my own. It's really worth it to be on the Alpaca mailing list. They send awesome photos that that you can put on the fridge and it almost feels like owning one. We like to name them and make up stories about them. Tina is on the fridge right now, and boy is she a beaut. Her BF Earl is real lucky to have her...

Japanese Motors... Single Fins & Safety Pins

So I have attempted surfing a few times. Convinced myself that I wont get eaten by a shark and gone out further than knee deep so that i could really try it. I've paddled successfully and even managed to stand up on the board. But i always manage to get knocked off and hit in the head with the board. But... when it gets a little warmer, I'm gonna give it another go. And after my successful surf I'm gonna play drums with The Japanese Motors in the water.

(chinatown is for lovers)

i am a lover, and therefore i love chinatown. and you might be wondering why i love chinatown? simple. because i love useless cheap stuff (like the super cool and cute pencil case and pencils), and the best food to ever exist on the face of the universe. that's right, i'm confident that it's better than anything that's ever been served on any other planet (is is getting too late or is this making any sense..or maybe im just on crack? haha).

anyway i'm driving up to the bay area tomorrow for some delicious holiday eatin', and am feeling a little bit homesick of all the good asian food up there.

speaking of going home, my parents are ancient and don't have internet connection, so MY contribution to out little baby blog will be slightly minimal...but maybe i'll be lucky and post from my guatemalan bean-hating boy friends house. :)

(phat phettish)

wow. i am crazy, because it seems that every single pair of bootsies i see i fall in love with. end of story. these are come cute cute cuuuuute ones from elle, that are in the same color as some that i already have, and they are so freaking cool.

seriously they are available at brownsfashion.com, and are going to burn a hole in anyone's pocket...eight hundred and fifty two dollars. that's right i had to spell it out, just to realize just how much money that is. ha-ha, the life of stoopid me.

pace y amor.
y posiblemente algo mas.

(december's thursday night thing)

also known as TNT...well it was so amazingly cool (its in San Diego on the first Thursday of every month. This art show's theme was an eco-chick fashion show. Being from Berkeley, I was all over it, and maureen being way cool, was all over it too. The designs were so awesome, and i kind of loved everything they had, just because all clothing was crafted from recycled fabrics! i wish i had pictures to post, but we kind of forgot the camera, and were stuck with mo's iphone, which didn't work out so well.

anyways, this show really inspired me, i love to sew (i could do it for, just about....forever!) and i hope to sew some stuff from all the old fabric and clothes that i have lying around, so much fun!! This is just a silly little drawing of a dress fabric that needs to become something cute and wearable, and now that finals have stopped bugging me, i and totally making something out of it...and then selling it on my etsy account! woohoo!

Yacht... See A Penny (Pick It Up)

Glasvegas... Silent Night

Yard Sale-ing...

Tomorrow... me and my BF are going on a yard sale adventure. This is truly one of my new favorite things to do. I have compiled a list of yard sales to venture to tomorrow and will defff post about my awesome new treasures. Thats what this hobby should be called... hunting for treasure. Like pirates. We are modern day pirates on Saturday mornings. Arrrrghhh!!!

Burial... Archangel

It's so weird how you listen to a song and you get some meaning out of it or it just makes you feel a certain way. And then you watch the video and it totally changes the song for you. This is totally one of those for me.

(gingerbreadhouses, oh my!)

okay, officially i am over finals and finally back in the real world and caught up on sleep. annnd i basically have come out of my cave to discover that...baBAM it's Christmas time!! Mo is certianly right, we looove (as in WE LUH IT TO DEAF, SISTA) the holidays! we had some pretty sad (also known as my gingerbread house) attempts at making these festive little housies, and some jawesome ones (see Maureen's, holy crap, its b-e-a-utiful). All in all it was fun, and the hu-nourmous amount of California Rain all over is making it so wintery...finallly. WOOHOO!

All this gift wrapping and stuff is really making me love this time of year. what do you guys like to do for the holidays? any funky traditions we can adopt? cause i love funky traditions, like, you know, decking out my car in festive wreaths and lights...
GOTCHA! but really, what do you kids like to do?

Nat and I love Christmas. Like lovvvvvvvve it. We made gingerbread houses/mansions the other night. We are going to Christmas Card Lane (this crazy christmas/light/carolers/awesome) extravaganza on Sunday.

But... San Diego doesn't really get much snow. So we don't get to make awesome snow art every year. I am hoping to get to go up to the mountains or somewhere wintery this year (only been in snow once in my life and it wasn't a lot). So since I'm not in snow all the time, I extra appreciate stuff like this. We see art all over electrical boxes and stuff here, which is super cool, but snow art on mailboxes=extra awesome.

Other Ways To De-Stress

Besides The Album Leaf, the other best way to destress... shopping. This little Marc Jacobs dress is just about the most adorable thing I've EVER seen. Soooo Betty Draper (if you dont know who I'm talking about... see 5 posts down). Besides... shopping is just my way of contributing to our flailing economy and looking good at the same time. Win-Win Situation.

The Album Leaf... Twenty Two Fourteen

When i need to de-stress and focus, The Album Leaf is always a trusty source. Absolutely amazing. Been listening to them all week long.

Foux De Fa Fa

This song solidified my love for the flight of the conchords. Bret at 0:23... perfection.

(robert.clergerie.diane need more be said)

holy crap, has anyone else been hit by the awesome realization that it is almost 2009? i mean seriously...when years start to go by super duper high-speed fast, it makes you feel like your really putting on the years. ha. GOOD GAWD i cant wait until i am twenty one, two thousand nine is my year baby!

anyways, new years calls for dressing up with class and such. I am planning to go with a little anonymous black dress. which can never fail you right? RIGHT.and you can NEVER fail by sprucing it up with some super duper expensive SHINY SHINY gladiator heels like THESE robert clergeries. I LUHH DEM TO DEAF. seriously, if i made hella money (cause they cost $735.95), these would be on my feet right this minute and i would wear them to bed. HOT, i know. now, back to reality, for those of us who dont make that much, i will be on the hunt for some low-brow knock offs. oh hells yes.

pace y amor.

Mad Men

This is currently the best show on TV right now. And if you aren't watching it, you need to be.

Natasha and I are both addicted.

I want season three to be here now......

Tapes n Tapes... Insistor

i <3 Brad to defff...

Ok... So my biggest guilty pleasure ever is the Rachel Zoe Project. I just heard that a second season was approved and will be coming out sometime in mid 2009. My reason for loving this show so much is because of this lovely fellow.

Meet Brad... Rachel's much nicer assistant (seriously so much nicer than her other assistant Taylor).

His "hug me" sweater... I DIE! Plus, anyone that wears a bow tie just because is a-ok in my book.  If i ever see him i would totally try to make him my gay BF.

Tuesday, December 2, 2008

Ummm... Hello!!

Yes... I want a pair of leather skinny jeans. I keep getting flashbacks of a certain episode of "Friends" but i want them nonetheless. Paige Denim makes this lovely pair and i want these amazing little effers... $600 is totally reasonable to look as good as I would in those pants...

The Cribs... I'm a Realist

Another one of my favorite bands right now is The Cribs. This is another one that I play over and over and over and over and over...

(studded waist purse, please)

i love fanny packs, for real, i do.

... ahh, you got me, no i don't. not for like, a gazillion years have i worn one at least. this is a pretty hi fash cutsie one, that i personally wouldnt mind slinging over my shoulder for a random look. around my budunk-a-dunk? not so much.

The Mystery Jets... Young Love

Every time i hear this song, i have to hit repeat and listen to it one more time because... yes, it is that good.

my most favorite movie ever. ever. ever. i don't care if you think i'm five- its the best movie. ever (and no i wont bug you and put another ever in there again).
this is the most romantic movie and you need to see it. gahh, it makes me all warm and cuddly inside!

(big plans)

i love playing dress up. mo' loves playing dress up. and we will play dress up on the this blog, very, very, very soon. I'm thinking of doing a daily picture of our outfits..when?..everyday, just in case you didn't catch that the first time. ha ha.
now, your probably wondering my reasoning behind this: well for one, it would be utterly fun, so fun! and for two, it would give you a more personal sense of exactly what kind of fashion we love.

we love you
and we love fashion
and our pet blog is where it all comes together!

by the way, the above picture is of my baby kitty me and my bean-hating Guatemalan boy dressed up as well...a baby (just in case you didn't get that one either) for my art project. Semi, kinda, really cute, huh?

Jump in the Pool... Friendly Fires

The last post really had me thinking of summer and pools (hence the amazing song... you're welcome) and laying out all day to get that beautiful golden tan that i am so missing right now. On another note, that also gets me thinking about bathing suits (yikes) and having to look good in one and that fact that i should quit the burritos that are oh so delicious and that i tend to  inhale after nearly dying at the gym. But the burrito store thats so conveniently located on my way home makes the most amazing breakfast burritos all day long and they are open 24 hours. I think i need to move...

So... I have been avoiding a paper that I really should be working on and have instead been doing some much needed catch up on the Spring/Resort '09 Collections. I spent the better part of my day yesterday taking naps in between reviewing the collections. I am again like many other ladies out there that is in love with the amazing Ms. Diane Von Furstenburg. Her patterns are amazing and just putting on one of her dresses gives you that extra skip in your walk that makes the day brighter. Especially since I recently learned that you don't need to be 5'9" to wear long dresses (thanks to Alex for filling me in on this little known fact). I know Thanksgiving isn't even here yet (mmmm..... turkey) but looking at the resort collections made me yearn for summer...

(on the note of shoes)

so yes, maureen is a heel girl, an extreme heel girl (no that is not an exaggeration, this girl would climb mount everest, or any other mountain of comparable difficulty to climb, in heels).

not that i dont like heals, i want to wear more of them buttt...

i on the other hand, am more of a flats girl. and these little ankle booty-boots are what i am searching for right this moment. I'm making the voyage to LA this weekend just to find them (well, maybe not...but lets pretend i was that cool). wish me luck on my search for cute boots!paceyamor

So, like many other women out there, i have a serious obsession with heels. I just love them. Everything about them (totally worth the blisters from time to time). I know it sounds silly but I love the sound that they make when you're walking, that click click click sound. Heaven. So... there will be quite a few posts devoted to this problem/obsession/addiction of mine. Take for example, these Camilla Skovgaard heels. Perfection. I think that they would be worth every penny of the $475 price tag.

(eye want these for my eyes)

excuse me, but...HELLO! these are the best glasses to ever exist on earth, and i love them to death (more like i luhh dem to deaf!). You can change the color of them by changing the ink that's inside of them-genious! so genious!! I would be more than happy to give up my perfect vision, just to look ultra cool in these!
what ultimate glasses!
(yes, i love words that begin with U today).

So pretty much our favorite place to hide and sip on coffee/tea and nibble on cupcakes is this wonder place called Influx in Golden Hill. Natasha discovered it and has gotten me hooked. For one they have free internet (hella rad), they have comfy seats (a necessity), and amazing food and drinks. Ok... so i haven't tried the real food yet because i never want to get too full for cupcakes, but i mean, come on, just look at them, you would totally not wanna get too full on anything else either...

Perro Caliente...

So... natasha wrote about our amazing hot dogs. Yes... bacon wrapped hot dogs. (every bite was like walking on clouds in heaven...) And then she wrote about puppies. I reallllly want one for christmas. Puggle anyone? Yeah, the cutest thing you've ever seen. So i thought that i'd combine the two...

(all i want for christmas is ... a puppy)

puppies have been on my mind lately, because for some freaking reason everyone i know has been getting one. now that the weather's finally cold and nippy, i wish i had a baby pup to cuddle in my arms while making/wrapping christmas gifts.

i am tots (ha ha i've been wanting to use that word for the longest time) wishing for one for christmas, even though i know i wont have one forever cause i have baby kitties, which sucks, now i seriously wish i could return them to the pound.

(los angeles is for me)

i would live here just for fun, la is the place for me.

we did a cute little trip to los angeles today and did some shopping around in the wholesale district. we found lots and lots of goodies for way too cheap.

besides the bracelet that a bought for 3 bucks, we got the most amazingly wonderfully fantastically delicious bacon wrapped hot dogs (perros calitenes!!! haha!) with onion all over.

it was a fun day even maureen and i didn't quite get the chance to take any LA pictures (ohhh do not get me started on how awesome the buildings are in downtown, there is so much potential there...).

on another note, do you like my creep-o picture?

(turkey turkey!)

call me a hundred percent carnivorous, but turkeys make me so happy. i could eat them year round. i am so excited, cause i just bought my first 19 pound turkey!

and i REALLY cant wait to pop it in the oven and cook that bitch up, cause i luhh that shyt to deaf. i luhh it, i just do.

really though, doesn't the holiday season make you so happy, i think it makes me overly happy, considering this is my second post on holidays in one day! okay...

(a holiday for holidays)

tomorrow is Veteran's day and will be an adventure indeed, as Maureen and I will be finding our ways over to the Los Angeles wholesale district..and i cannot wait until we come back with all our goodies. We're going to buy lots and lots of fabric to make pretty things for ourselves, and i'm buying to make things for christmas gifts. these cute little towel leaf wallets in the picture above take around ten minutes to make, and make a cute bag for a gift. i love love love getting my creative-on during the holidays, hand made everythings are the best. yesss. you are jealous if you are not on my Christmas list.

(november's ray at nite)

last night was ray at night, this cool little event in North Park. I'm sure most of you have heard of it, but for those of you who haven't, it happens on the first Saturday of every month where most of the galleries on ray st. open up their doors to the public and show their art. how cute, right?

On the most part (even though it was pretty small) people were pretty cool, you know, besides the occasional crazy-crack-head-could-be-artist people. ha ha. The Art's pretty cool, but i liked looking into the artists' studios themselves more. So awesome!

(november's thursday nite thing)

on Thursday me and Maureen and our lovely Gracie and my bean-hating Guatemalan boyfriend started our afternoon off with delicious teas and cupcakes at Influx Cafe, in Golden Hill (this place is the coolest of cool places to ever exist). Then mozzi'ed our way over to Lotus Thai in East Village for a quick bite to eat, and then (DUN DUN DUN--not the bad dun dun dun, the good, happy one!)we finally made it to TNT (Thursday Night Thing). This is an art show that happens at MOCA in Downtown San Diego on the first Thursday of every month. There was some Very Very interesting stuff there.

Any who, so what ended up making my night was this: I was strolling through this elegant little hallway minding my own business until I realized: HOLY-SHITAKEE MUSHROOM CINDY SHERMAN is on the wall (one of my favorite artists). okay, maybe not that exciting to YOU, but to ME it was.

Also, another notable event of the night:
I stepped on a cockroach the size of Louisiana, that's right and i killed it, im a horrible person. ekk.

Get out there and VOTE today!

(excuse me, hello)

today the little capitalist/materialist in me is coming out of her shell and saying excuse me, hello! These CHANEL tights are ghetto-fabulous (minus the ghetto)!! i am melting inside, F i want them! cuteee!

i have no clue when these came out, but chances are it was a while ago, since i never know anything, about...anything...maureen can tell you all about that! anyway, i still think these are ultimately post-worthy. soo adorable!

(i luhh it)

so apparently all amazingness is embodied in this "doggy bag." I LUHH DIS SHIT TO DEAF.

Makes you want to return your two four-month-old kittens to the adoption center for a dog, right?

no, i would never do that...maybe...

just kidding, i love my baby kitkats!

(mad at weather)

okay, so yes, it has been really nice these past few days here in San Diego, but its been like this for eons. global warming can suck it cause my winter-time boots were made for wearing.

i am originally from northern California, land of the foggy summer, and nippy fall.
so i am really confused at this weather. i know at least half of you out there are dying to wear your winter clothes (which i personally think is the best fashion season) to beat the cold. There's just something wonderful about being bundled up all the time and coming home to a warm house. So I've decided that if i start to wear wintry clothes, winter will come to me. any one care to join me? call me crazy? maybe?

Romantic... by Walter Meego

Something about this song always puts me in a good mood. Don't quite understand the video, but at least there's ninjas.

(thoughts on jazz)

I'll admit it. My very favorite "cooking dinner on a hot evening with all the doors and windows open" music is Jazz. I don't know why, but if you do it you will love it forever and ever. Guaranteed. Smooth Jazz 98.1 (don't make fun) has been playing some very very very good music by Ingrid Michaelson, who I absolutely adore at the moment. Check her out:

(trick or treat, smell my feet)

Halloween 2008 is rollin' up around the corner, and I'm betting you haven't even thought of what you're doing-- much less, what you're going to be. There are plenty of silly festivities going on in sunny San Diego, so this post will give you the heads up on what to do with you and your affectionate self; That way, you don't have to ask yourself, "What do you do when you're too old to trick or treat (which is NEVER in my book-that's right I plan on doing it, and YOU will be jealous of all my free candy)?"

(Haunted Trail in Balboa Park, October 24): I've heard this is actually pretty darn scary, although that might have been my friend's trees talking, who knows. This would be fun with a group of amigos, for sure.

(Whaley House): For those of you who don't know, this is San Diego's year-round haunted house. There has never been a day in my life that I have not wanted to come here, and what appropriate timing

So... my absolute favorite nail polish is Chanel "Fire" and I recently broke my last bottle of it. (Don't leave nail polish in your center console during really hot summers in San Diego.) I have been on a hunt for it for quite some time now and I am pretty sure that it has been officially discontinued. It is the perfect red and makes me truly happy when i see it on my nails, and it is gone for-ev-er...

OH! Why... hello there!!! I'm Maureen. I'm a twenty something from San Diego. I love music, baking, running (sometimes), snuggling, shopping, cocktails, fishing, vacationing, reading blogs and writing to you... I look forward to hearing from you too!!!
